Oroséa opened this season on the island of Paros, Greece. Adults-only, carved into the hillside of Naoussa, forty suites each with a private pool and an uninterrupted view of the Aegean.
The Meltemi winds were active the morning we crossed from Athens. Those familiar with the summer winds of Greece will know what that means. It was rough. And yet the moment we arrived in Paros, collected by a sleek Land Rover Defender that moved us quietly out of the marina's bustle and north along the coast towards Naoussa, the whole journey receded. Private pool, direct sea views, 80 square metres of terrace extending outward toward the Aegean. The interior reveals itself slowly, the way good design always does: warm stone and natural wood in quiet conversation with the landscape. Marble in the bathroom that feels as though it came from the island itself. A pillow menu we actually used. A wellness pantry that felt genuinely curated rather than obligatory. Coffee facilities that became part of the morning ritual — something about a strong espresso after a dip in the pool always reminds me, I’m on vacation.
By the time you notice every detail, the quality of the linen, the placement of light, the quiet precision of the finishes, you understand that someone thought very carefully about what it means to feel looked after without being fussed over. That design sensibility runs through Oroséa entirely. The minimalism here is not cold or vacant. It is warm and elemental. What remains is the essential: stone, light, water, the view.
The architecture doesn't compete with the landscape, it compliments.
PISINA
Beyond the private pool of the suite, the main swimming pool serves as the quiet anchor of daily life at Oroséa. Expansive, serene, and framed by elegant shaded cabanas that give you no reason to leave. We swam, we read, we ordered from Calyra's menu without moving more than an arm's reach from the water. THE RITUAL OF CALYRA
Elegant without formality, relaxed without carelessness; an easy backdrop for leisurely afternoons that tip into candlelit dinners. This is where we started every morning and ended every night.
The Mediterranean menu is native, seasonal, and mineral. Ingredients that carry the character of Paros in every mouthful. From the salt-edged air to the volcanic notes that find their way into the local produce. The culinary direction is elevated without being over complicated, which is the hardest thing to achieve and the most satisfying when done well.

SUNSET AT AURÉA
Oroséa's Sunset Wine Bar sits above the restaurant, and is the only place you need to be at golden hour. The offering is a curated selection of Greek wines — rare labels, local vineyards, thoughtful pairings that treat the country's viticulture with the seriousness it deserves.
Oroséa's sommelier moved through the evenings with the quiet authority of someone who genuinely loves what they're pouring. Steering us toward bottles we wouldn't have found on our own and wouldn't forget afterwards. A Cycladic natural wine one evening. A mineral-driven white from the volcanic soils of Santorini the next. Each one a small education.
Auréa wine bar faces west, arranged so that the sunset fills your entire view. Framed between two mountains, the sky dissolving from blazing white, to gold, to a deep orange that belongs only to a Greek sunset.
From six o'clock, Auréa becomes the only place on Paros you want to be.
WINE TASTING
One evening, we joined Oroséa's guided wine tasting — and it reframed everything we thought we knew about how to drink Greek wine. The ritual is built around the idea of wine as an expression of place and memory: not simply what's in the glass, but what the island put there. Working through a selection of aromas naturally found in wine. Mineral, floral, earthy, marine, the tasting builds a sensory vocabulary, a way of reading a glass that connects what you're smelling to where the grape grew, what the soil held, how the sea air moved through the vineyard. We left with a deeper understanding of Greek viticulture and, more usefully, a list of bottles we hadn't known to look for before.
NAOUSSA & BEYOND
Oroséa's positioning above Naoussa is one of its most considered qualities. The village is close enough to reach easily, far enough away to feel completely removed from it. This is what the hotel means when it describes a "dual existence": the proximity to Naoussa's energy when you want it, the retreat when you don't.
For those building a wider Cyclades route, Oroséa makes for an ideal anchor point. Paros island sits at the natural midpoint between the more famous islands to the east and the extraordinary quiet of Antiparos (a short ferry crossing to the south-west) a tiny island of near-total peace, extraordinary beaches, and a village that feels untouched. Where to stay in Paros no longer requires the usual compromise between location and character. Oroséa resolves both.
WHAT TO PACK
Paros demands a particular kind of wardrobe. Not the resort excess of Mykonos, or the barefoot simplicity of a smaller island — something in between. The right outfit for Paros is about ease and quality.
